Start your day exploring one of Cairo’s oldest military fortresses, the Citadel of Cairo, also known as the Citadel of Saladin. Built in the Middle Ages by Salah al-Din (Saladin) and later enhanced by subsequent Egyptian rulers, this historic fortress was designed to defend Cairo from invaders.

Next, visit the stunning Muhammad Ali Mosque, or Alabaster Mosque, located within the Citadel. Constructed between 1830 and 1848 by Muhammad Ali Pasha, its interior and exterior walls are beautifully adorned with alabaster. Explore the mosque’s magnificent complex, including the school, hospital, and shrine. Remember to remove your shoes or cover them before entering.

End the day at the vibrant Khan El Khalili Bazaar, a must-see market filled with brassware, silver, gold, perfumes, leather, antiques, and more, perfect for souvenirs and local treasures.

Stroll through the beautiful Montazah Palace gardens, admiring King Farouk’s palaces Salamlek and Haramlekband their scenic beaches. Visit the historic St. Mark’s Church, the oldest church in Africa, then continue to Alexandria’s old harbor for panoramic city views. End the tour with a stroll through downtown Alexandria, experiencing its lively streets and culture.

After the tour, relax on your return transfer to your Cairo hotel for an overnight stay.
